About Bay Area Hang Gliding

Bay Area Hang Gliding is the San Francisco Bay Area's premier hang gliding school. BAHG promises to give their students the highest quality hang gliding experience. In March of 2008 BAHG started with some of the bay area's best and most experienced hang gliding instructors. Together these USHPA certified instructors make up the bay area's preferred full service hang gliding school.

Our Instructors

Leading our hillside lessons department is Eric Hinrichs. Eric started learning how to fly from Jim Woodward of Natural Flying in 1992 and started teaching with him in 1994. He gained more experience working with another school and training instructors for several years before finding a home here at BAHG. Eric is rated as an Advanced Instructor and Tandem Instructor with USHPA. Eric loves helping people realize their flying dreams and to help pilots of any experience level achieve their personal bests.

Heading up our tandem department is Mike Jefferson. Mike joined the free flight community in the year 2000, and is a USHPA certified Instructor and Tandem Pilot. Mike has been teaching hang gliding for over nine years and considers himself lucky to have taught hundreds of students for Mission Soaring Center in 2006 and 2007. Mike credits Pat Denevan from Mission Soaring Center for being the biggest influence on his flying career.
